Assemblywoman Bonilla, Supervisor Glover Endorse Mark DeSaulnier for Congress

State Senator Mark DeSaulnier continues to gain endorsements from key leaders in Contra Costa County in his bid for Congress. Over the weekend, he announced that Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla and Supervisor Federal Glover both support him for Congress.

The endorsement is huge for DeSaulnier as it ends any discussion that Bonilla will run for George Millers seat as she sent her support towards DeSaulnier. Bonilla was an important endorsement because her Assembly district (14th) overlaps with 35.9% of California’s 11th Congressional district.

“Mark DeSaulnier has been one of the most effective elected leaders to represent Contra Costa County in local and state government,” said Asm. Bonilla. “He’s deeply devoted to our local neighborhood issues, but he’s also proven himself to be a real visionary when it comes to tackling tough statewide issues. I know Mark will be a strong voice for us in Congress and I’m proud to endorse him.”

Meanwhile, Supervisor Federal Glover also endorsed DeSaulnier.

“Contra Costa County residents need and deserve to have Mark DeSaulnier as their representative in Congress,” said Supervisor Glover. “He’s got his finger on the pulse of our community, and I’m fully confident that he’ll continue Rep. Miller’s strong leadership of delivering results for our local neighborhoods. I’m thrilled to endorse Mark for Congress.”

The endorsements are the latest in a recent salvo of endorsements DeSaulnier has collected from highly influential elected leaders, including:

former Rep. Ellen Tauscher
Rep. Jared Huffman
Rep. Alan Lowenthal
California’s Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson
State Senate Majority Leader Ellen Corbett
State Senator Loni Hancock
State Senator Lois Wolk
State Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla
Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover
Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia
Senator DeSaulnier continues to be the only candidate to officially announce that they are running for Congressman Millers soon-to-be vacant Congressional seat.
