Walnut Creek, CA – Today, in the wake of the massacre of 11 Jewish Americans at the Tree of Life Synagogue, on the heels of President Trump’s visit to Pittsburgh, PA, and one week before the midterm election, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord) called on the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) to join the California Republican Party in rejecting John Fitzgerald’s campaign for U.S. Congress.
“Now more than ever we must oppose those who espouse hate and division as a platform for public office. My opponent is one who seeks to divide America. He is a denier of the Holocaust, a denier of history, and a denier of the sacrifice paid by brave American soldiers during World War II. We must stand with all our Jewish neighbors against ignorance and hate. Mr. Fitzgerald’s values are not indicative of Contra Costa County, the Bay Area, the State of California, or the United States of America and have no place in our political institutions. I call on the Republican Party to put the unity of our country before party and reject John Fitzgerald’s campaign,” said Congressman DeSaulnier.
