CONTRA COSTA, CA – Today, Congressman Mark DeSaulnier issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade:
“Today is a dark day in America’s history, as the U.S. Supreme Court overturned nearly 50 years of precedent and stripped away the fundamental rights of women over their own bodies.
This unconscionable decision is the lasting legacy of a President who did not share our values nor a duty to uphold the U.S. Constitution. His appointments to the Supreme Court do not reflect the values of the American people, and as such, they are tearing down the very fabric and foundation of the society we have built.
Know that I stand with women across this country and will do everything in my power to fight for women’s reproductive rights.”
